Before Anything Happens

So you have recognised some or most of the signs, what can you do before anything happens?

Continue in your role, ensuring that there can be no reason for your boss/manager to start finding fault or worse start disciplinary action against you.

Don’t suddenly ask for more work as if there any plans for redundancy, (that the employer may be keeping from you) as it may indicate that you already know that you are perhaps not fully utilised and quicken/confirm your selection in the redundancy situation

Ask!  If you are able to approach your boss/manager then simply ask the question either in the broader organisational sense “Are there any re-organisation plans in the pipeline that may affect me” or similar.

Ensure you know where your contract of employment is, is it current, does it reflect your current role

** If you suddenly receive an invitation to attend a meeting with Human Resources, where no topic is given, then the process may be about to start

Write an email asking for confirmation as to the content of the meeting.  As you will soon learn, this is the point the you will need to ensure that everything is documented – you may need it further down the line.

If you know of any other tips to use before anything happens, please add them in the comments, so they can be added.  If you are adding comments, you either suspect that you will be going through the redundancy process or are already going through it … now may be the time to order our eBook
